I am stunned and saddened to hear of the death of Tim Lamb. He died yesterday, Tuesday 20th March, apparently of a heart attack, Tim was only 50. He died while playing football, which was something he loved.

We first met when he came into my show on BBC Radio Newcastle, he was then Manager of Eldon Square shopping Centre, Newcastle. Tim was really good at his job. More recently he moved within Capital Shopping Centres to become the General Manager of the Metrocentre in Gateshead, the largest shopping centre in Europe. Tim was witty, intelligent, had a sharp mind and was a great bloke to be with. I tried really hard to get him to join me in the queue for the official opening of the Apple Store Metrocentre, but he was not to be persuaded, he preferred to be watching from a distance I think.

This is very sad, I’m really shocked. Rest in peace Tim.
